1. to cut off (a length)

   他把绳子截成三段。 tā bǎ shéngzi jié chéng sānduàn — He cut the rope into three pieces.

2. to stop; to intercept

   警方在高速公路上截住了嫌疑车辆。 jǐngfāng zài gāosùgōnglù shàng jiézhù le xiányí chēliàng — The police intercepted the suspect vehicle on the highway.

3. section; chunk; length
