戏 — xì

1. a theatrical drama, play; a stage performance

   他们去看了一出好戏。 tā men qù kàn le yī chū hǎo xì 。 — They went to see a great play.

2. a show or performance (more generally); spectacle

   晚会有很多精彩的节目和戏。 wǎn huì yǒu hěn duō jīng cǎi de jié mù hé xì 。 — The evening party had many exciting programs and shows.

3. to play a trick; to joke; to make a spectacle of (someone/something)

   别在会议上戏弄他，这很不礼貌。 bié zài huì yì shàng xì nòng tā ， zhè hěn bù lǐ mào 。 — Don't make fun of him at the meeting; it's rude.
