憔悴 — qiáocuì

1. wan and sallow; thin and pallid; haggard (of a person, from illness or fatigue)

   他病了几天，看上去非常憔悴。 tā bìng le jǐtiān kànshàngqù fēicháng qiáocuì — He was ill for a few days and looked very haggard.

2. (of plants) withered; dried up; rundown

   经过连日干旱，花园里的植物都显得憔悴。 jīngguò liánrì gānhàn huāyuánlǐ de zhíwù dōu xiǎnde qiáocuì — After days of drought, the plants in the garden appeared withered.
