悬 — xuán

1. to hang; to suspend

   他把灯悬在房梁上。 tā bǎ dēng xuán zài fángliáng shàng — He hung the lamp from the beam.

2. to worry; to be anxious (lit. to have something hanging on one's mind)

   我悬着心等他的消息。 wǒ xuán zhe xīn děng tā de xiāoxī — I anxiously waited for his news.

3. public announcement; notice (as something hung up for public view)

   市政厅在公告栏悬了最新通知。 shìzhèngtīng zài gōnggàolán xuán le zuìxīn tōngzhī — The city hall posted the latest notice on the bulletin board.

4. unresolved; baseless; without foundation (of a matter or claim)

   这件事悬而未决，大家都在等待调查结果。 zhèjiàn shì xuánérwèijué dàjiā dōu zài děngdài diàochájiéguǒ — This matter remains unresolved; everyone is waiting for the investigation results.
