怀抱 — huáibào

1. to hug; to hold in one's arms (physical embrace)

   她怀抱着刚出生的婴儿，脸上带着微笑。 tā huáibào zhe gāngchūshēng de yīngér liǎnshàng dài zhe wēixiào — She is holding the newborn baby in her arms, with a smile on her face.

2. to cherish; to cherish (an idea, hope, feeling); to hold dear

   他一直怀抱着对公平的信念，努力推动改革。 tā yìzhí huáibào zhe duì gōngpíng de xìnniàn nǔlì tuīdòng gǎigé — He has always cherished the belief in fairness and works hard to promote reform.

3. bosom; the interior/embrace (of a family, organization, group) — figuratively: within the bosom of X

   游子终于回到了祖国的怀抱。 yóuzi zhōngyú huídào le zǔguó de huáibào — The wanderer finally returned to the bosom of his motherland.
