心肠 — xīncháng

1. heart; mind; one's habitual feelings or disposition; mood

   他心肠很软，见到小动物就心疼。 tā xīncháng hěn ruǎn jiàndào xiǎo dòngwù jiù xīnténg — He has a soft heart; he feels sorry when he sees small animals.

2. intention; motive; one's mental attitude toward something

   你别猜他的心肠，直接问他干什么打这主意。 nǐ bié cāi tā de xīncháng zhíjiē wèn tā gànshénme dǎ zhè zhǔyì — Don't guess his intentions; ask him directly why he came up with this idea.

3. to have the heart for something; to be willing or feel able to do something

   我今天心肠不太好，没心情参加聚会。 wǒ jīntiān xīncháng bùtàihǎo méi xīnqíng cānjiā jùhuì — I'm not in the mood today; I don't have the heart to join the gathering.
