心眼儿 — xīnyǎnr

1. one's thoughts; what is on one's mind

   你别猜我的心眼儿，我就是不想去。 nǐ bié cāi wǒ de xīnyǎnér wǒ jiùshì bùxiǎng qù — Don't try to guess what's on my mind — I simply don't want to go.

2. intention; motive

   他做这件事没什么坏心眼儿，只是想帮忙。 tā zuò zhèjiàn shì méishénme huài xīnyǎner zhǐshì xiǎng bāngmáng — He had no bad intentions in doing this; he only wanted to help.

3. willingness to accept new ideas; open-mindedness

   他很有心眼儿，遇到难题总能想出办法。 tā hěn yǒu xīnyǎnér yùdào nántí zǒngnéng xiǎngchū bànfǎ — He's very resourceful/open-minded — he can always come up with solutions to hard problems.

4. baseless suspicion; petty malice (having an unfounded grudge or petty scheming)

   别总往别人心眼儿里想，他没那么难听的想法。 bié zǒng wǎng biérén xīnyǎnér lǐ xiǎng tā méi nàme nántīng de xiǎngfǎ — Don't always read malice into others' minds — he doesn't have such nasty thoughts.
