1. to pace back and forth

   他在病房外徘徊，等待医生的消息。 tā zài bìngfáng wài páihuái děngdài yīshēng de xiāoxī — He paced outside the ward, waiting for news from the doctor.

2. to dither; to hesitate (be indecisive)

   别在那儿徘徊了，快决定吧。 bié zài nàér páihuái le kuài juédìng ba — Don't dither there — make a decision quickly.

3. to fluctuate (e.g., sales figures); to hover (around a value)

   本季度的销售额在十万上下徘徊，没有明显增长。 běnjìdù de xiāoshòué zài shíwàn shàngxià páihuái méiyǒu míngxiǎn zēngzhǎng — This quarter's sales hovered around 100,000, with no clear growth.
