徒弟 — túdì

1. apprentice — a person learning a trade or craft from a master

   他是我的徒弟，我教他做木工。 tā shì wǒ de túdì wǒ jiào tā zuò mùgōng — He is my apprentice; I teach him woodworking.

2. disciple — a follower or pupil of a teacher, often in a religious or philosophical context

   他是那位高僧的徒弟，经常跟着学佛法。 tā shì nàwèi gāosēng de túdì jīngcháng gēnzhe xué fófǎ — He is a disciple of that eminent monk and often studies Buddhism with him.
