当真 — dàngzhēn

1. to take (something) seriously; to believe something as true

   他的话你别当真。 tā dehuà nǐ biédàngzhēn — Don't take his words seriously.

2. serious; earnest (describing a person or attitude)

   他做事很当真，不喜欢开玩笑。 tā zuòshì hěn dàngzhēn bù xǐhuān kāiwánxiào — He is very serious about his work and doesn't like joking.

3. No kidding! / Really? (used to tell someone not to take something seriously)

   别当真，我只是开玩笑。 biédàngzhēn wǒ zhǐshì kāiwánxiào — Don't take it seriously — I'm just joking.
