引用 — yǐnyòng

1. to quote; to cite (someone/something, e.g. a passage or an authority)

   他在文章中引用了多位学者的观点。 tā zài wénzhāng zhōng yǐnyòng le duōwèi xuézhě de guāndiǎn — He quoted the opinions of several scholars in the article.

2. to recommend; to appoint (to a post)

   董事会引用她出任公司的副总经理。 dǒngshìhuì yǐnyòng tā chūrèn gōngsī de fùzǒngjīnglǐ — The board appointed her as the company's vice general manager.

3. (computing) reference (e.g., a pointer or link to data/another object)

   在编程中，我们通常用指针来引用对象。 zài biānchéng zhōng wǒmen tōngcháng yòng zhǐzhēn lái yǐnyòng duìxiàng — In programming, we often use pointers to reference objects.
