1. seat; place to sit; a person’s position or status (formal)

   请留出座位给老人。 qǐng liúchū zuòwèi gěi lǎorén — Please leave a seat for the elderly.

2. to stand; to be located (as a base or platform); to base (on)

   这座碑立在山顶上。 zhè zuò bēi lì zài shāndǐng shàng — This stele stands on the mountain top.

3. constellation (bound form, e.g. 北斗座)

   猎户座是冬季夜空中容易辨认的星座。 lièhùzuò shì dōngjì yèkōng zhōng róngyì biànrèn de xīngzuò — Orion is a constellation easy to recognize in the winter night sky.

4. classifier for large immovable objects (buildings, mountains, bridges, etc.)

   山顶上有一座小庙，香火很旺。 shāndǐng shàngyǒu yīzuò xiǎo miào xiānghuǒ hěn wàng — There is a small temple on top of the mountain, and it is very popular for worship.

5. (archaic/bound) respectful suffix used in forms of address (e.g. 师座) — archaic/literary

   副官恭敬地向师座汇报战况。 fùguān gōngjìngdì xiàng shī zuò huìbào zhànkuàng — The aide respectfully reported the battle situation to the division commander.
