1. to deal with; to handle (a situation or problem)

   公司应对经济下滑的措施很及时。 gōngsī yìngduì jīngjì xiàhuá de cuòshī hěn jíshí — The company's measures to deal with the economic downturn were very timely.

2. to answer; to reply (to a question or remark)

   记者提出问题后，官员迅速应对。 jìzhě tíchū wèntí hòu guānyuán xùnsù yìngduì — After the reporter raised the question, the official responded quickly.

3. a response; a reaction

   这是对抗议者的官方应对。 zhè shì duì kàngyìzhě de guānfāng yìngduì — This is the official response to the protesters.
