幕 — mù

1. curtain or screen (e.g. stage curtain)

   舞台上的幕慢慢拉开了。 wǔtái shàng de mù mànmàn lākāi le — The stage curtain slowly opened.

2. canopy or tent (covering)

   帐篷的幕被风吹得鼓了起来。 zhàngpéng de mù bèi fēngchuī dé gǔ le qǐlái — The tent's canopy billowed in the wind.

3. headquarters of a general (military command tent)

   古代将军的幕通常设在军中指挥要地。 gǔdài jiāngjūn de mù tōngcháng shèzài jūnzhōng zhǐhuī yào dì — In ancient times a general's headquarters tent was set up at a key command point.

4. act (of a play)

   这出戏共有三幕。 zhè chū xì gòngyǒu sānmù — This play has three acts.
