布置 — bùzhì

1. to arrange; to put in order; to set up (objects, furniture, schedule)

   他负责布置会议室的桌椅。 tā fùzé bùzhì huìyìshì de zhuōyǐ — He is responsible for arranging the tables and chairs in the meeting room.

2. to decorate; to fix up (a room, venue) — make it look presentable

   我们周末要布置教室迎接新学期。 wǒmen zhōumò yào bùzhì jiàoshì yíngjiē xīnxuéqī — We will decorate the classroom this weekend to welcome the new semester.

3. to deploy or assign (troops, personnel, tasks); to instruct someone to carry out a task

   队长布置大家负责不同的巡逻区域。 duìzhǎng bùzhì dàjiā fùzé bùtóng de xúnluó qūyù — The captain assigned everyone to be responsible for different patrol areas.
