已 — yǐ

1. already

   他已经收拾好行李，离开了。 tā yǐjīng shōushí hǎo xínglǐ líkāi le — He has already packed his luggage and left.

2. to stop; to cease

   风雨已，路面开始变干。 fēngyǔ yǐ lùmiàn kāishǐ biàn gàn — The storm has ceased; the road is starting to dry.

3. then (after that)

   先吃饭，已后再谈工作。 xiān chīfàn yǐ hòu zài tán gōngzuò — Let's eat first, and then talk about work.

4. afterwards

   此事已后再议，不急于一时。 cǐshì yǐ hòu zàiyì bùjí yú yīshí — This matter will be discussed afterwards; there's no rush.
