尺 — chǐ

1. a Chinese foot (traditional unit of length), about one-third of a meter

   我用尺量了桌子的长度。 wǒ yòng chǐ liàng le zhuōzi de chángdù — I measured the table's length with a tape-measure.

2. a ruler; a measuring stick

   请把尺给我，我要画一条直线。 qǐng bǎ chǐ gěi wǒ wǒ yào huà yītiáo zhíxiàn — Please give me the ruler; I need to draw a straight line.

3. a tape-measure

   我用尺量了桌子的长度。 wǒ yòng chǐ liàng le zhuōzi de chángdù — I measured the table's length with a tape-measure.

4. one of the three acupoints used when measuring the pulse in traditional Chinese medicine (尺脉)

   医生在病人的腕部按尺脉判断脉象。 yīshēng zài bìngrén de wànbù àn chǐ mài pànduàn màixiàng — The doctor pressed the chi pulse at the patient's wrist to assess the pulse pattern.

尺 — chě

1. one of the characters used to represent a musical note in gongche notation (工尺谱)
