小气 — xiǎoqì

1. stingy; miserly (unwilling to spend or give money)

   他很小气，吃饭总想 AA 制，从不给别人买单。 tā hěnxiǎo qì chīfàn zǒngxiǎng A A zhì cóng bù gěi biérén mǎidān — He's very stingy; when eating out he always wants to split the bill evenly and never pays for others.

2. narrow-minded; petty (small-hearted or begrudging over trivial matters)

   别为了这么点小事跟他计较，他太小气了。 bié wèile zhème diǎn xiǎoshì gēn tā jìjiào tā tàixiǎo qì le — Don't argue with him over such a minor issue; he's too petty.
