1. moderately well-off; comfortably prosperous; modestly affluent

   他们家过上了小康生活。 tāmen jiā guòshàng le xiǎokāngshēnghuó — Their family has achieved a comfortably well-off life.

2. Xiaokang — the Confucian near-ideal state of society, second only to Datong (大同)

   孔子提出的小康是接近理想社会的状态。 kǒngzi tíchū de xiǎokāng shì jiējìn lǐxiǎng shèhuì de zhuàngtài — The Xiaokang proposed by Confucius is a state of society close to the ideal.
