小姐 — xiǎojie

1. young woman; young lady

   那位小姐是我们的新同事。 nàwèi xiǎojiě shì wǒmen de xīn tóngshì — That young lady is our new colleague.

2. miss (form of address for an unmarried woman)

   服务员喊道："小姐，请点菜。" fúwùyuán hǎndào xiǎojiě qǐng diǎncài — The waiter called: "Miss, please order."

3. (slang) prostitute; sex worker (derogatory in many contexts)

   他在夜店里被骗去消费，遇到了几个小姐。 tā zài yè diànlǐ bèipiàn qù xiāofèi yùdào le jǐgè xiǎojiě — He was tricked into spending money at a nightclub and ran into some prostitutes.
