射 — shè

1. to shoot (an arrow, gun, etc.)

   他用弓射箭。 tāyòng gōng shèjiàn — He shoots arrows with a bow.

2. to launch; to fire (a missile, rocket, etc.)

   火箭已于清晨发射。 huǒjiàn yǐyú qīngchén fāshè — The rocket was launched at dawn.

3. to allude to; to hint at

   他说话总是射别人的痛处。 tā shuōhuà zǒngshì shè biérén de tòngchù — His words always hint at other people's sore spots.

4. radio- (prefix used in chemistry/radiation contexts)

   医院使用射示踪剂诊断疾病。 yīyuàn shǐyòng shè shìzōngjì zhěnduàn jíbìng — The hospital uses radio-tracers to diagnose diseases.
