   厨房里有很多旧家伙需要丢掉。 chúfáng lǐ yǒu hěnduō jiù jiāhuǒ xūyào diūdiào — There are a lot of old household items in the kitchen that need to be thrown away.

2. domestic animal

   那家农户有几头家伙，都是用来耕地的。 nàjiā nónghù yǒu jǐtóu jiāhuǒ dōu shì yònglái gēngdì de — That farming family has several domestic animals, all used for plowing.

3. (colloquial) guy; chap; fellow

   他是个好家伙，经常帮别人。 tā shì gè hǎojiāhuo jīngcháng bāngbiérén — He's a good guy, he often helps others.

4. weapon (colloquial)

   他口袋里藏着一把家伙，被警察发现了。 tā kǒudài lǐ cáng zhe yībǎ jiāhuǒ bèi jǐngchá fāxiàn le — He had a weapon hidden in his pocket and was discovered by the police.
