1. room; chamber

   我的教室里有三十个学生。 wǒ de jiàoshì lǐ yǒu sānshígè xuéshēng — There are thirty students in my classroom.

2. work unit; (old) official office or bureau

   他在办公室的隔壁室办公。 tā zài bàngōngshì de gébì shì bàngōng — He works in the office bureau next door.

3. grave (burial chamber)

   古墓中发现了多处墓室。 gǔmù zhōng fāxiàn le duōchù mùshì — Multiple burial chambers were found in the ancient tomb.

4. scabbard; sheath (for a sword)

   古代兵器常用铜制刀室装饰。 gǔdài bīngqì chángyòng tóngzhì dāo shì zhuāngshì — Ancient weapons often used bronze scabbard decorations.
