1. to orient (someone or something); to determine or set a direction

   经理在会上给新项目定向了目标市场。 jīnglǐ zài huìshàng gěi xīn xiàngmù dìngxiàng le mùbiāo shìchǎng — The manager oriented the new project toward a target market at the meeting.

2. directional; targeted; having a specific orientation or direction

   这是一个定向广告，只会显示给特定年龄段的用户。 zhè shì yígè dìngxiàng guǎnggào zhǐ huì xiǎnshì gěi tèdìng niánlíngduàn de yònghù — This is a targeted ad; it will only be shown to users of a specific age group.

3. orienteering (sport or activity involving navigation and direction-finding)

   学校组织了一次定向比赛，学生们要在树林里找旗子。 xuéxiào zǔzhī le yīcì dìngxiàng bǐsài xuéshēng men yào zài shùlín lǐ zhǎo qízi — The school organized an orienteering contest; students had to find flags in the woods.
