学问 — xuéwèn

1. learning; knowledge

   他很有学问，总是能回答复杂的问题。 tā hěn yǒu xuéwèn zǒngshì néng huídá fùzá de wèntí — He is very knowledgeable and can always answer complicated questions.

2. scholarship; academic learning

   他的学问主要集中在现代史研究上。 tā de xuéwèn zhǔyào jízhōng zài xiàndàishǐ yánjiū shàng — His scholarship focuses mainly on modern history research.

3. a body of specialized knowledge (a particular field or skill)

   烹饪也是有学问的，不是随便做几道菜就行。 pēngrèn yě shì yǒu xuéwèn de búshì suíbiàn zuò jǐdàocài jiù xíng — Cooking also requires expertise; you can't just throw together a few dishes.

4. (fig.) an activity that demands experience or skill; 'there's an art to...'

   开车也有学问，要看路况和掌握技巧。 kāichē yě yǒu xuéwèn yào kàn lùkuàng hé zhǎngwò jìqiǎo — There's an art to driving too; you need to read road conditions and master techniques.
