1. student; trainee — a person enrolled in a course or training program

   这次培训班有三十名学员。 zhècì péixùnbān yǒu sānshímíng xuéyuán — There are thirty trainees in this training class.

2. officer cadet — a person undergoing military officer training

   他毕业后被选为学员进入军校深造。 tā bìyè hòu bèixuǎnwèi xuéyuán jìnrù jūnxiào shēnzào — After graduation he was selected as a cadet to enter the military academy for further study.
