孝敬 — xiàojìng

1. to show filial respect; to be dutiful to one's parents

   他很孝敬父母，经常陪他们聊天和买他们喜欢的东西。 tā hěn xiàojìngfùmǔ jīngcháng péi tāmen liáotiān hé mǎi tāmen xǐhuān de dōngxī — He is very filial to his parents, often keeping them company and buying things they like.

2. to give presents (to one's elders or superiors) as a sign of respect

   过年要记得孝敬长辈，送些礼物或红包表示心意。 guònián yào jìde xiàojìng zhǎngbèi sòng xiē lǐwù huò hóngbāo biǎoshì xīnyì — Remember to give gifts to elders at New Year, or give red envelopes to show your regard.

3. to support one's aged parents (financially or by care)

   子女应当孝敬父母，在他们年老时给予照顾。 zǐnǚ yīngdāng xiàojìngfùmǔ zài tāmen niánlǎo shí jǐyǔ zhàogù — Children should support their parents and care for them in their old age.
