媒介 — méijiè

1. intermediary; agent that acts as a go-between

   我们通过一个可信的媒介联系了对方。 wǒmen tōngguò yígè kěxìn de méijiè liánxì le duìfāng — We contacted each other through a trusted intermediary.

2. vehicle; means or channel for carrying something (e.g., information, goods)

   这本书是思想传播的重要媒介。 zhè běnshū shì sīxiǎng chuánbō de zhòngyào méijiè — This book is an important vehicle for spreading ideas.

3. vector (in biology/epidemiology); an organism or agent that transmits disease

   蚊子是许多疾病的典型媒介。 wénzi shì xǔduō jíbìng de diǎnxíng méijiè — Mosquitoes are typical vectors for many diseases.

4. medium; material or surrounding substance through which something acts
