好 — hǎo

1. good; suitable; proper; all right

   这件衣服很好。 zhèjiàn yīfú hěn hǎo — This piece of clothing is very good.

2. (placed before a verb) easy to; (before a verb) good to (for doing something)

   这个菜很好吃。 zhège cài hěn hǎochī — This dish is very tasty (lit. good to eat).

3. (used before an adjective for exclamatory effect) so; very

   这件裙子好漂亮！ zhèjiàn qúnzi hǎo piàoliàng — This skirt is so beautiful!

4. used as a verb complement indicating completion or satisfactory result (e.g., 做好 "to finish/complete")

   工作做好了，我们可以下班。 gōngzuò zuòhǎo le wǒmen kěyǐ xiàbān — The work is done; we can finish work.

5. of two people: close; intimate; on friendly terms

   他们两个关系很好。 tāmen liǎnggè guānxì hěn hǎo — Those two have a very good (close) relationship.
