多 — duō

1. many; much; a lot of (large quantity)

   他有很多朋友。 tā yǒu hěnduō péngyǒu — He has many friends.

2. more (comparative)

   我想要多一点时间。 wǒ xiǎngyào duōyìdiǎn shíjiān — I want a bit more time.

3. too many; in excess

   书太多了，放不下。 shū tàiduō le fàngbùxià — There are too many books; they won't fit.

4. (used after a numeral) ... odd (e.g., 三多 meaning three plus one odd?) — indicates 'odd' in some set expressions

   我去过十多次北京了。 wǒ qùguò shíduōcì běijīng le — I've been to Beijing more than ten times.

5. how; to what extent (used in questions)

   你现在到底有多高了？ nǐ xiànzài dàodǐ yǒu duō gāo le — Exactly how tall are you now?
