复原 — fùyuán

1. to restore something to its former condition; to return (an object, place, system) to original state

   历史建筑经过修缮后被复原成原来的样子。 lìshǐ jiànzhù jīngguò xiūshàn hòu bèi fùyuán chéng yuánlái de yàngzi — The historic building was restored to its original appearance after repairs.

2. to recover from illness; to regain health

   手术后他花了几个月才完全复原。 shǒushù hòu tā huā le jǐgè yuè cái wánquán fùyuán — After the surgery he took several months to fully recover.

3. recovery (the state or process of returning to a normal condition)

   病人的复原比预期要快。 bìngrén de fùyuán bǐ yùqī yào kuài — The patient's recovery was faster than expected.
