处理 — chǔlǐ

1. to handle; to deal with (a matter, a problem)

   我会处理这个问题，别担心。 wǒhuì chǔlǐ zhège wèntí bié dānxīn — I'll handle this problem, don't worry.

2. to punish; to deal out punishment

   公司会处理那名违规的员工。 gōngsī huì chǔlǐ nà míng wéiguī de yuángōng — The company will punish/deal with the employee who broke the rules.

3. to treat something by a special process (e.g., chemically or mechanically)

   这些木材需要特殊处理以防腐蚀。 zhèxiē mùcái xūyào tèshū chǔlǐ yǐ fángfǔshí — These timbers need special treatment to prevent rot.

4. to process (data, materials); to perform a series of operations

   服务器正在处理请求，请稍候。 fúwùqì zhèngzài chǔlǐ qǐngqiú qǐng shāohòu — The server is processing the request, please wait.

5. to sell at reduced prices; to clear out stock

   商店在季末处理旧款衣服。 shāngdiàn zài jìmò chǔlǐ jiù kuǎn yīfú — The store is clearing out last season's clothes.
