   医生给了我一张处方。 yīshēng gěi le wǒ yīzhāng chǔfāng — The doctor gave me a prescription.

2. to write out/prescribe a medical prescription

   医生给病人开了处方。 yīshēng gěi bìngrén kāi le chǔfāng — The doctor wrote a prescription for the patient.

3. (figurative) remedy; recommendation; suggested solution

   他提出了一些改善公司的处方性建议。 tā tíchū le yīxiē gǎishàn gōngsī de chǔfāng xìng jiànyì — He proposed some prescriptive suggestions for improving the company.
