1. to hang down; to droop; to dangle; to bend down

   树枝上垂着几只果子。 shùzhī shàng chuí zhe jǐzhī guǒzi — A few fruits were hanging from the branches.

2. to hand down; to bequeath (formal/archaic use)

   祖上垂下的家规仍然影响着我们。 zǔshàng chuíxià de jiāguī réngrán yǐngxiǎng zhe wǒmen — The family rules handed down from the ancestors still influence us.

3. nearly; almost; to approach (in amount or degree)

   老人已年垂八十，仍然精神矍铄。 lǎorén yǐ nián chuí bāshí réngrán jīngshén juéshuò — The old man is nearly eighty, yet still hale and hearty.
