1. (used before a verb to indicate an action in progress) (progressive marker)

   他现在正在吃饭呢。 tā xiànzài zhèngzài chīfàn ne — He is eating right now.

2. to be (located) at; to be present at (a place)

   她今天早上在图书馆。 tā jīntiān zǎoshàng zài túshūguǎn — She is at the library this morning.

3. to exist; to be alive; to remain (be still there)

   爷爷年纪大了，还在，真好。 yéyé niánjì dà le hái zài zhēnhǎo — Grandpa is getting on in years, but he's still alive — what a blessing.
