1. Chinese national culture; traditional Chinese learning and culture

   他对国学很有兴趣，经常读古代文献。 tā duì guóxué hěn yǒu xìngqù jīngcháng dú gǔdài wénxiàn — He is very interested in guoxue and often reads ancient texts.

2. the academic study of ancient Chinese civilization (classics, history, philology)

   大学开设了国学专业，培养古典文献研究人才。 dàxué kāishè le guóxué zhuānyè péiyǎng gǔdiǎn wénxiàn yánjiū réncái — The university has established a guoxue major to train researchers of classical texts.

3. the Imperial College (historical institution)

   古代的国学为皇室培养了许多学者。 gǔdài de guóxué wèi huángshì péiyǎng le xǔduō xuézhě — The Imperial College in ancient times trained many scholars for the royal court.
