回首 — huíshǒu

1. to turn around; to look back (physically)

   他突然回首，看见孩子在门口。 tā tūrán huíshǒu kànjiàn háizi zài ménkǒu — He suddenly turned around and saw the child at the door.

2. (fig.) to look back on the past; to recall events or experiences

   回首往事，我既感欣慰又有些遗憾。 huíshǒuwǎngshì wǒ jì gǎn xīnwèi yòu yǒuxiē yíhàn — Looking back on past events, I feel both gratified and a little regretful.
