嗜好 — shìhào

1. hobby; pastime

   我的嗜好是摄影和徒步旅行。 wǒ de shìhào shì shèyǐng hé túbùlǚxíng — My hobbies are photography and hiking.

2. indulgence; a habitual liking (often with a mildly negative connotation)

   他有吃甜食的嗜好，饭后总要来一块蛋糕。 tā yǒu chī tiánshí de shìhào fànhòu zǒngyào lái yīkuài dàngāo — He has an indulgence for sweets; he always wants a piece of cake after meals.

3. addiction; strong dependence (pejorative/clinical)

   吸烟成了他的嗜好，医生建议他尽快戒掉。 xīyān chéng le tā de shìhào yīshēng jiànyì tā jǐnkuài jièdiào — Smoking has become his addiction; the doctor advised him to quit as soon as possible.
