   我听见了一声响。 wǒ tīngjiàn le yī shēngxiǎng — I heard a sound.

2. to make a sound; to ring; to sound

   门响了，快去看看是谁。 mén xiǎng le kuài qù kànkàn shì shuí — The door rang, go see who it is.

3. loud (of a sound)

   这间房间的电视声音很响。 zhèjiān fángjiān de diànshì shēngyīn hěn xiǎng — The TV in this room is very loud.

4. classifier for noises (used to count distinct sounds/noise incidents)

   半夜里传来两响，大家都醒了。 bànyèlǐ chuánlái liǎngxiǎng dàjiā dōu xǐng le — Two noises came in the middle of the night and everyone woke up.
