呆 — dāi

1. foolish; stupid

   别做傻事，别显得那么呆。 bié zuò shǎshì bié xiǎnde nàme dāi — Don't do something silly; don't look so foolish.

2. expressionless; blank (face or look)

   他听到消息后呆了一会儿，脸上没有表情。 tā tīngdào xiāoxī hòu dāi le yīhuìer liǎnshàng méiyǒu biǎoqíng — He was stunned for a while after hearing the news, his face expressionless.

3. to stay; to remain (somewhere)

   他在城里呆了三天才回家。 tā zài chénglǐ dāi le sāntiān cái huíjiā — He stayed in the city for three days before returning home.
