1. notice; announcement (written, e.g. on a bulletin board, in a newspaper or online)

   公告栏上贴着一则启事，说明失物招领的时间和地点。 gōnggàolán shàng tiēzhe yīzé qǐshì shuōmíng shīwùzhāolǐng de shíjiān hé dìdiǎn — There is a notice on the bulletin board stating the time and place for lost-and-found.

2. to post or put up a notice; to publish an announcement

   学校在门口贴出启事，告知放假安排。 xuéxiào zài ménkǒu tiēchū qǐshì gàozhī fàngjià ānpái — The school posted a notice at the gate to announce the holiday schedule.
