1. to listen to; to hear

   请你听我说完再回答。 qǐng nǐ tīng wǒ shuōwán zài huídá — Please listen to me finish before answering.

2. to heed; to obey

   孩子应该听父母的话。 háizi yīnggāi tīng fùmǔ dehuà — Children should obey their parents.

3. a can (loanword from English 'tin')

   我买了一听可乐。 wǒ mǎi le yī tīng kělè — I bought a can of cola.

4. classifier for canned beverages (one can = 一听)

   请给我两听啤酒。 qǐng gěi wǒ liǎng tīng píjiǔ — Please give me two cans of beer.

5. to let be; to allow (Taiwan pron. ting4)

   算了，听他去吧。 suànle tīng tā qù ba — Forget it, let him go.

6. (literary) to administer; to deal with

   此事由官府听理。 cǐshì yóu guānfǔ tīng lǐ — This matter will be dealt with by the authorities.
