吧 — ba

1. modal particle indicating suggestion, soft command, or seeking confirmation: '...right? / ...OK? / ...shall we? / I suppose'

   我们现在走吧。 wǒmen xiànzài zǒu ba — Let's go now, OK?

吧 — bā

1. bar (establishment serving drinks; loanword)

   他在街角开了一家小酒吧。 tā zài jiējiǎo kāi le yījiā xiǎo jiǔbā — He opened a small bar on the street corner.

2. to puff (on a pipe or cigarette); to take a draw

   他坐下，吧了一口烟。 tā zuòxià ba le yīkǒu yān — He sat down and took a puff of his cigarette.

3. onomatopoeia: bang! (impact sound)

   门被风吹得吧的一声关上了。 mén bèi fēngchuī dé bā de yīshēng guānshàng le — The door was blown shut by the wind with a bang.

4. abbr. for 贴吧 (Tieba — Baidu online forum)

   他常在百度电影吧讨论新片。 tā cháng zài bǎidù diànyǐngba tǎolùn xīnpiàn — He often discusses new films on the Baidu movie Tieba.
