1. the day after tomorrow

   我们后天去看电影吧。 wǒmen hòutiān qù kàn diànyǐngba — Let's go see a movie the day after tomorrow.

2. life after birth (development through experience, contrasted with innate traits 先天)

   在中医理论中，先天与后天被用来解释体质差异。 zài zhōngyīlǐlùn zhōng xiāntiān yǔ hòutiān bèi yònglái jiěshì tǐzhì chāyì — In traditional Chinese medicine theory, innate (xiantian) and acquired (houtian) are used to explain constitutional differences.

3. acquired; not innate or congenital

   这种疾病是后天感染引起的，不是遗传的。 zhèzhǒng jíbìng shì hòutiān gǎnrǎn yǐnqǐ de búshì yíchuán de — This disease is caused by an acquired infection, not hereditary.

4. a posteriori (knowledge or reasoning based on experience)
