同舟共济 — tóngzhōugòngjì

1. literally: to cross a river in the same boat; (literally) being in the same boat together

   暴风雨期间，他们同舟共济，划着小船过河。 bàofēngyǔ qījiān tāmen tóngzhōugòngjì huàzhe xiǎochuán guòhé — During the storm, they were in the same boat, rowing a small boat across the river.

2. fig.: to pull together in times of difficulty; to cooperate because of shared interests or common fate

   公司遇到经济困难，大家必须同舟共济，才能渡过难关。 gōngsī yùdào jīngjì kùnnán dàjiā bìxū tóngzhōugòngjì cáinéng dùguònánguān — The company faces economic difficulties; everyone must pull together to get through the hard times.
