叠 — dié

1. to pile up; to stack

   他把书叠在桌子上。 tā bǎ shū dié zài zhuō zi shàng 。 — He piled the books on the table.

2. to fold (e.g. clothes, paper)

   她把衣服叠好放进箱子里。 tā bǎ yī fú dié hǎo fàng jìn xiāng zi lǐ 。 — She folded the clothes and put them into the trunk.

3. (bound form) indicating repetition; "re-", repeated

   在一些动词前加叠-表示动作的重复。 zài yī xiē dòng cí qián jiā dié - biǎo shì dòng zuò de chóng fù 。 — Adding the bound form 叠- before some verbs indicates repeated action.

4. classifier: stack, pile (of thin objects)

   桌上有一叠信件。 zhuō shàng yǒu yī dié xìn jiàn 。 — There is a stack of letters on the table.

5. classifier for repeated sections in a musical composition

   这首曲子有两叠相同的重复段。 zhè shǒu qǔ zi yǒu liǎng dié xiāng tóng de chóng fù duàn 。 — This piece has two repeated sections (two 'stacks').
