反弹 — fǎntán

1. to bounce; to ricochet (physically)

   球从墙上反弹回来。 qiú cóng qiángshàng fǎntán huílái — The ball bounced back off the wall.

2. to rebound; to recover (of prices, markets); to bounce back

   股票在大跌后开始反弹。 gǔpiào zài dàdiē hòu kāishǐ fǎntán — The stock began to rebound after a big drop.

3. to boomerang; to cause a backlash or negative repercussions

   这项政策引起公众不满，结果反弹很大。 zhèxiàng zhèngcè yǐnqǐ gōngzhòng bùmǎn jiéguǒ fǎntán hěndà — The policy caused public discontent and resulted in a strong backlash.
