1. original; first

2. primitive; rudimentary (early stage; lacking development)

   那个部落仍然保持着原始的生活方式。 nàge bùluò réngrán bǎochí zhe yuánshǐ de shēnghuó fāngshì — That tribe still maintains a primitive way of life.

3. original (as opposed to a copy), e.g. original document or data
