1. thick (measuring between two surfaces)

   这本书的纸很厚，翻起来不方便。 zhè běnshū de zhǐ hěnhòu fān qǐlái bù fāngbiàn — The paper of this book is thick; it's inconvenient to flip through.

2. deep; profound (used for abstract qualities or relationships)

   他们之间的友谊很深厚，已经持续了多年。 tāmen zhījiān de yǒuyì hěn shēnhòu yǐjīng chíxù le duōnián — Their friendship is very deep and has lasted many years.

3. kind; generous (describing a person's character or behavior)

   王老师对学生很厚，总是愿意帮忙。 wánglǎoshī duì xuéshēng hěnhòu zǒngshì yuànyì bāngmáng — Teacher Wang is very generous to students and is always willing to help.

4. rich or strong in flavor (food or drink)
