1. to repress or constrain (one's emotions, feelings)

   他长期压抑自己的情感，最后崩溃了。 tā chángqī yāyì zìjǐ de qínggǎn zuìhòu bēngkuì le — He suppressed his emotions for a long time and finally broke down.

2. oppressive; stifling; depressing (atmosphere, mood)

   会议的气氛很压抑，没人敢发言。 huìyì de qìfēn hěn yāyì méirén gǎn fāyán — The meeting's atmosphere was very oppressive; no one dared speak.

3. repression; the act or state of being repressed
